On 23 October 2025, the MASTT2040 Workshop “Manufacturing as a Service: Building the Future of European Industry” took place in Brussels, bringing together more than one hundred participants from across Europe, both on site and online.

Organised by the MASTT2040 consortium, the event gathered representatives from the European Commission, industry, research organisations, and innovation clusters to discuss how Manufacturing as a Service can support Europe’s twin transition and strengthen the resilience, circularity, and competitiveness of its manufacturing sector.

Throughout the day, participants explored:

  • how MaaS can enable resilient and adaptive supply chains;
  • future scenarios and use cases shaping the manufacturing landscape towards 2040;
  • challenges and opportunities related to standardisation, interoperability, and policy;
  • and collaborative pathways for a sustainable and data-driven European industry.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange perspectives, and reflect on the key enablers for the future of Manufacturing-as-a-Service in Europe.
